And Dot Dot Dot!

Here it is! My last post of the school year. I said school year because who knows, maybe I'll become blog famous and in that case, I would be blogging more! Probably not. It was such a fun experience being able to blog! It was rough at first because I didn't really know how to use it and it confused me. Actually, just figuring out my theme took forever! But, now I'm pretty happy with it and even though no body even reads it, it's fine! Does it hurt? Yes. But will I let it get to me? No. Maybe. It actually doesn't even matter, it's a blog! It's not a popularity contest! Anyways, I can't say that I've loved every second of it because there have been times when I was writing my last post at 11:45 at night. Not really my kind of fun on a Friday night but it was my fault for leaving it to the last minute.

How have I changed this year? Well, I'm not sure if he means in my blog or just in life in general, but I'll just go for both!

1. I've become a lot more mature. I know what's appropriate to do at certain times, and what's not.

2. I've added more voice to my writing. This blog has actually helped me add more voice to even those boring essays about Romeo and Juliet.

3. I tried new sports! Swimming, not high school but I tried it not because I wanted to. Because I was forced. Track! Again, can't say I loved every second but, it was still fun.

4. My style. I went from a girl who dressed like everyone else, but kind of a sad, failed effort. To someone who doesn't really care what people think because I just wanna be comfortable.

5. I know who my real friends are. Not the people you get mad at me for nothing just to create drama. The people who I actually have a fun time with in and out of school!

6. I think I grew a little.

7. I traveled further. All the way to Paris! Check out my blog post about it @egideon18

8. I learned all the countries Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. Thanks Mr. Hase.

9. I gained confidence. Before this year I would let people be rude to be but now if you're rude to me just be prepared for some sass right back at ya.

10. And I learned how to annotate and write an essay about a book. Thanks Mr. Parker, but next time I'll pass on the Killer Angels. :)

Dysfunctional Friends

Ninth grade was full of lots of fun memories that I'll remember forever. I couldn't of made it through this year with out my friends and it's hard to believe that we only have 3 more weeks of school left. Through all the hard tests, it doesn't even matter because we still have three more years of high school to worry about grades! Hahaha just kidding I wanna go to college. But anyways, this blog is probably over so I'll just end with...

Rain.

As if forth quarter isn't hard enough, now it's raining and hasn't stopped since Monday. So much for Spring. You look outside and all you see is gray clouds and rain dripping down your window. I barely wanna get up when it's sunny outside, but when it's raining it's almost impossible. So I roll out of bed, and somehow manage to get dressed in my most comfortable outfit. For me it's usually leggings and a flannel or a sweatshirt. Then it turns out that you actually woke up 20 minutes late and you were too slow getting ready so you're late for your bus. So, you sprint out the door, without breakfast, into the pouring rain. Then it turns out that your bus is late too so you sit there, in the pouring rain, for more minutes. It's at this point when you really consider faking being sick just so you can go back to bed. All you wanna do is curl up in bed, grab your phone and watch Netflix. But then the bus comes and you go find a seat and stare out the window like you're in some romance drama written by Nicholas Sparks. You put in your headphones and try to block out everyone on the bus until you finally get to school.

Photo Taken by Me
Ugh school. School+ Rain= Bad. Especially when you have a class at the high school and you have to walk over to the high school. By the time you actually get inside you're hair's wet and your jeans are uncomfortably chafing your legs. Then after school you get back on the bus, put your head phones in and wait for your stop. I'm lucky because my stop is just my driveway but it's still not a fun walk. I finally get home, get a snack and get ready for soccer. Only to find out that soccer has been cancelled. ALL WEEK. So instead of soccer, I put on some sweatpants and crawl into bed. I usually watch a few TV shows and then, if I have enough effort, I'll do a little homework. Then there's dinner, and then back into bed for a few more episodes. And finally it's time for bed.

Then you start the whole thing over again for the rest of the week.

The only thing that really changed was Friday. Instead of soccer practice we had a game, but a game without practice wasn't looking very good. So we all get there, put our cleats on and start our warm up. Then there was lighting, and screaming, and next thing you know we were all frantically running into our cars. And we wait. And wait. And wait, for an hour while it started snowing! Turns out the game is cancelled so as a team we go to Maxwell's!! It was super fun and even though it wasn't the whole team we still made some fun memories. And really that was my exciting week (she said sarcastically). Hopefully next week will be warmer, and a little more fun-filled...

Seasonal Sensations: Jolly Rancher Lollipops and Lemonade

Yup you read that right. Jolly Rancher Lollipops. Just when you thought things couldn't possibly be any better, I throw that one at you. To me this sounds like the best thing ever. I always to a blog post about something good to eat/make according to the season and I think this one is my favorite. I found this idea originally on Pinterest but I've only tried it once. And that didn't really work out for me... I'm not quite sure what happened but I think I might have used the wrong type of paper underneath it because when I tried to peel them off, the paper came with. :( It was a bummer.

Ingredients:

Photo Creds: ModernMom

- Jolly Ranchers (paired into threes)

- Sticks (Lollipop Sticks can be found at Walmart)

Equipment:

- Cookie Sheet
- Parchment Paper
- Non-Stick Spray

Instructions:

1. Pre-heat oven to 275º
2. Unwrap all your Jolly Ranchers
3. Line your cookie sheet with parchment paper and your non-stick spray
4. Lay your candy out in groups of three (usually in a line)
5. Place in oven for 7-8 minutes. Watch them, they should melt together
6. Take them out of oven IMMEDIATELY add the sticks
     - Turn stick once to coat
7. Let them sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes
to harden

And that's how you make your own Jolly Rancher Lollipops. My spanish teacher makes them every quarter for the Student of the Quarter but I've never gotten them. That's ok though because now I can make them myself and have all I want! So ha. That was kind of a short recipe so here's another one just because! i've never tried it but it looks SO good! I'll have to try it later this summer. It's not just any normal, boring lemonade. It's raspberry peach lemonade! Does that sound good or what?! Here's the recipe just for you!

Photo Creds: DamnDelicious

Ingredients:

- 1/4 cup agave nectar
-  6 ounces raspberries
- 3 medium peaches, sliced
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

Instructions:

1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water and agave over medium heat until the agave has dissolved (about 1 minute)

2. Add raspberries and peaches, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until raspberries have broken down (about 5 minutes)

3. With the top cap removed, combine raspberry peach mixture in a blender until smooth, (about 1 minute)

4.  let cool completely before straining through a cheesecloth or fine sieve.

5. In a large pitcher, whisk together raspberry peach mixture, lemon juice and 5 cups water. Place in the refrigerator until chilled.

5. Serve over ice and raspberries, if desired.

If you have any more questions about this lemonade look on: DamnDelicious Sorry I couldn't really help much, I haven't ever made it! But have a fun summer and maybe you'll find a day when you can make these!

Spring Break 2k15

Finally! Everyone needed a break from school, especially because we haven't had one since February. My family is really indecisive so our destination changed from Chicago to Hawaii to Florida and Finally to Paris!! Unfortunately, my uncle died so that means that we have trip to Wisconsin. But that was just a small detour because the day after the funeral we were headed to France!!!

We left for Paris at around 10 on Easter morning and we finally got to the airport and had to wait for about an hour...
AHHHH!!

We finally got on and SURPRISE we got first class! Ahhhh!! I walked onto the airplane only to find out that they were lay-flat seats! This was gonna be a pretty fun 9 hour flight. The first thing they did when I sat down was offer me something to drink and some candied almonds. I got settled in as the flight attendants handed us our menus for the flight. There were 6 courses. SIX!!! First there was shrimp, then the soup and salad, then the main course (mine was steak), then dessert (I had an ice cream sundae) and then it was time for bed. During all of this of course I was watching movies on the TV screens this whole time. But then I got tired so I decided to go to sleep. If you were awake for the midnight snack you got cookies but if you weren't then your next meal was breakfast. You have an omelet or some oatmeal. Ya, I wasn't awake for breakfast so I just woke up and watched another movie for the last hour. And then we finally landed in Paris!

It took a while to get past the passport check and out of the airport but we finally got out to the bus stop and in route to our hotel. We stayed in a cute bed in breakfast only a few blocks from the Eiffel Tower. And because it was about 9 in the morning in Paris, we still had a whole day of touristy things to do... And then after that 3 more days!!

Day 1: Please notice the guy in front.

Day 1: After we were settled into our hotel we were off to see the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysée. I think everyone knows about the Arc de Triomphe, but the Champs-Élyséé is the big shopping strip in Paris with lots of fun things to do. Since I forgot a jacket, we had to stop in the H&M and get me one which I certainly didn't mind. Then we just walked around and kind of explored. We got crêpes on the street and ate them while we walked. We walked around the Eiffel Tower and just soaked in the paris vibe. Oh did I mention it was my birthday? Well ya it was, so we went out to a fun restaurant, had some pizza and then called it a day.

Day 2: Daddio and I at the
Palace of Versailles

Day 2: We were up bright and early because we had a bike tour we had to get to. We were touring the city of Versailles. This was by far my favorite day because I would much rather bike all over than walk! Duh. So we got our bikes and off we went. Our first stop was the market. Our guide told us that this is where we're getting lunch to eat for later so he sent us off. We got fresh baguettes, cheese, fruit and salami and then we just walked around while we waited for everyone else in our tour. Then actually went to the grounds and learned a lot of history. So we rode and stopped, the rode more and stopped again for a few hours. We went into museums and to historical sites and before we knew it, the day was over. :(   So we walked home past the Eiffel Tower to take a few pictures, and then home so we could go to bed!

Day 3: Too Much Walkin

Day 3: This was our busiest day by far. We barely stopped moving! First we went to the museum where Marie Antoinette was held before she was killed. Then we walked to find a cute little restaurant for lunch. Then after a quick bite to eat we were off the see Notre Dame. It was beautiful and a lot of fun to see. After that we stumbled upon the lock bridge so we took a few pictures and moved on. We walked around a little bit more, enjoying the city and all it had to offer but then we went to the Louvre. We didn't go in, but we took some pictures and we happy with that. We kept going on a walk into the gardens in front of the Louvre and out of the caos.  Oh, at some point in this mess we managed to go to a different art museum that I had absolutley no interest in but whatevs. We went to get some snacks at the grocery store and then went back to the Eiffel Tower again at sunset. Then after the sunset we went out for dessert and talked. Then walked back to our hotel jumping and giggling but sad because this was our last night.

Day 4: Another early wake up, to get to the airport. We called a taxi and said our good-byes. Then we got back on the plane and took the 11 hour flight back home! I was sad, but at the same time super excited to get back on the plane!

Over all, this was the best trip I've ever been on. Paris is my new favorite city and I wish I was there right now. Oh well, i've got pictures and I'm sure we'll go back sometime soon!

Another Recipe...

Pancake Dippers?! Who is the mastermind behind this idea? It's genius! That's like the two best breakfast foods! And it's so smart. Why spend the extra time eating them separately when you can combine them and they taste even better?  Oh so smart! So if this looks good to you, here's how to do it:

Ingredients
  • 1 recipe of the Bisquick pancake batter (including the ingredients to make the batter)
  • 12 slices of bacon
  • Syrup
Instructions
Yum!! Photo Credit: imgarcade
  1. Cook bacon how you wish and set aside.
  2. Mix batter according to the package directions.
  3. Pour into a squeeze bottle with a big enough hole for the batter to pour from. I used a cheap picnic ketchup bottle. You know the tall skinny red ones. They also come in yellow for mustard.
  4. Heat griddle. I heat mine to 300 degrees.
  5. Squirt batter in a long oval shape a little longer and wider then the bacon and place a slice of cooked bacon in the center.
  6. Lightly press bacon into the batter.
  7. Squeeze more batter over the bacon. I just did a wiggle line.
  8. This is to protect the bacon from the griddle when you turn that pancake dipper over.
  9. Cook until the batter starts to bubble then turn over and cook a few minutes longer.
  10. Serve with syrup and enjoy!

I made these a few weeks ago and they were delicious! I ate them all and I have no regrets. Comment for other recipes! Recipe courtesy of: Lady Behind The Curtains

Adventure Is Out There!

I love to travel, traveling's my favorite. My favorite place to go is San Diego because, we go at least once a year and there's so much to do. We have all our favorite restaurants picked out, our favorite shops and beaches. It's the best way to spend Spring Break, just relaxing by the beach and taking it all in. You don't always have to travel far, and you don't always have to stay somewhere fancy. Camping is SO fun and it's not fancy at all. Anyways, here are a few places I've traveled recently:

Hawaii:

My most recent one. We spent everyday on the beach tanning, swimming and paddle boarding. Even though I was just with my parents, it was still pretty fun... We mini-golfed, went out for snow cones and I swam with dolphins! Super awesome trip overall, just wish I could've stayed longer.
Best snow cone place EVER.

Las Vegas:

We took a road trip to Vegas because of a soccer tournament. An 8 hour drive with Ali and DJ and all we did was eat, sleep and watch movies! Once we actually got to Vegas we had lots of games and it was good because we won our first game, but then it just kinda went downhill from there. Plus our coach wouldn't even let us go in the pool. Stupid. At the end of it all, we didn't care what he said, we were going in the pool. So we did and then right after, it was time to pack up and drive back home. It was a short trip but it was definitely worth it  and I had a ton of fun.

Pool in Vegas

Midway:

Just a 30 minute drive to our campsite, hidden away in the hills with the trees. Just another quick trip for Memorial Day Weekend. We went hiking and I got super sunburnt because I didn't but on sunscreen. We roasted marshmallows, and hot dogs and played games by the campfire. Holly and I stayed in our own tent and it was the coziest thing I've ever slept in. We had so many blankets and sleeping bags it didn't even feel like camping... A successful trip, and maybe we'll go again this year!

Aspens!
Artsy Pictures By The Fire

Besides the actual place, just getting there is fun. Whether it's driving or flying it's always fun. I like planes because you get there quickly and sometimes there are movie screens so you can just waste time watching all the new movies you didn't want to pay to see at the theater.(Delta Driving is my all time favorite because you can bring pretty much anything you want. All the food you want and you can stop whenever to go to the bathroom or stop for even more food! Even if you can't travel far, it's always fun to just go somewhere new. You don't have to spend a lot of money because there are cheaper options.

Traveling's the best and I hope one day, I can travel around the world and maybe live in a different country!

xoxo- Emma
